Online Poker FAQ

Interested in playing online poker? Cool. There's one thing you should know before you jump into online poker. Unlike live poker, online poker is way less sociable and that means it offers way less fun. As a consequence of this, a large portion of players playing online are players that don't play for fun, but for profit. So guess what that means? Yes, online games today are pretty tough. That's why I suggest you look at the strategy section, so you won't get destroyed right off the bat.

Now for the more technical part. There are probably a few questions that are going through your head or should be going through your head:

Where can I play online poker?

There are a ton of poker rooms on the web, so you should decide carefully where you register. First off you should register from a solid affiliate site. Two reasons why you should do this. First reason, you get better bonuses and rakeback deals when you do and second reason, poker rooms promoted by big affiliates are in general more trustworthy. Second thing you should do is check out reviews of different rooms on these sites and see what they are offering and pick the one that suits you best.

How do I get money online?

Getting money online is easy. Obviously the fastest and simplest way is to just use a credit card, but if you are shy about giving out your credit card details (like I am) there are other safer options. My preferred method is a web wallet, like Skrill. Web wallets are really easy to use, you just upload money via a bank transfer or credit card and BAM! you have funds online and you can move them around different poker rooms or cash it out back to your bank account.

Is it safe?

It's as safe as anything else in life. If you stick with reputable affiliates like PokerStrategy.com and register on larger poker rooms that they promote and have been operating for a long time it's safe, but if you start following unreal rakeback offers on shady sites you could get ripped off.

Is it legal?

I can't answer this due to the international nature of online poker. It's legal in most parts of the world (even regulated in some), but there are also a few countries where it's illegal (currently it's not legal to play online poker in the USA, but it's not illegal either). You should check local laws in your country to be sure.

Hope I was of some help here, enjoy playing!
